Fashionable friends is taking a detour out of Europe and across the "pond," over to the Eastern shores of the United States. Today we meet Chelsea who is living the dream, working as a Fashion Consultant up in Portland, Maine. I first found Chelsea after she replied to one of my posts in a Facebook group. You see, I've been looking for a little help to keep my content flowing on here. Things are looking up and I'd like to keep it that way.
In this interview I asked Chelsea a few questions about keeping up with her blog, what drives her towards fashion, and a few questions just for fun. I hope you have just as much fun reading as we did writing this!
Hey! Tell me about yourself…
My name is Chelsea K. Ray. I live in Portland, Maine, and travel regularly to Miami, Florida, US. Ten years ago I started a business as a Fashion Consultant (personal shopping, closet organization, special event shopping).
Why do you blog?
With Degrees in Fashion and Journalism, I wanted to share my passion for style and shopping that’s accessible and affordable to everyone. Hence my blog: https://everydayfashiononabudget.blogspot.com
How would you describe your usual blogging process or ritual?
My blog content is usually inspired by a great outfit. I’ll have an event and love what I’m wearing, so I set up my tripod and snap a few pictures.
So I'm not the only person using a tripod! Awesome :)
Okay, so you’re at Starbucks… what do you order?
Easy. Grande non-fat chai latte with 2 shots of espresso. They call it a double dirty chai.
Do you think it’s appropriate to tell someone they should “dress their age”?
In the line of work I’m in, I NEVER comment on someone’s clothes unless they ask.
What’s your opinion on today’s fashion icons? And who is your current fashion icon?
I love that today’s fashion icons are taking risks. Looking like everyone else is so boring. Jessica Alba is my current fashion crush, but of all time, it has to be Kate Moss.
Whom do you envision as your target reader?
Someone with a budget, who wants to be more fashionable, one piece at a time. My blog specializes in clothing pieces that are on-trend, accessible and affordable.
Do you have any advice for aspiring bloggers or style blog newbies?
1. Don’t take selfies. They look unprofessional.
2. Use social media platforms to support your blog.
3. Blog at least twice a week to keep followers engaged.
Okay, now I’m going to ask you a really personal question… what’s in your purse? :)
Tons of lip glosses. I’m borderline addicted. Baby wipes, cause they ALWAYS come in handy. Floss, sunglasses, cell phone, hair accessories, concealer & mascara… oh and a wallet (that occasionally has money in it).
Bonus question for the sake of the post: What are you wearing?
True to my blog’s philosophy of everyday fashion on a budget:
Top - Forever21 // buy it here
Floral Skort - Target // get something similar here, or here, or here.
Sandals - Steve Madden // if you like it try this or this.
